School—Parent Compacts

What is a School-Parent Compact?

(REVISED May 6, 2025) A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards.

Effective compacts:

Link to goals of the school improvement plan
Focus on student learning skills
Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction
Share strategies parents can use at home
Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress

The parents, students, and staff of Eastbrook Middle School developed this School-Parent Compact for Achievement. Teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added ideas to make them more specific, and students told us what would help them learn. Meetings are held annually to review the Compact and make changes based on student needs.

Goals for Student Achievement

District Goals

Goal 1: Increase the WCS graduation rate from 91.13% to 93.13% over the next three years for all students.
Goal 2: Reduce the achievement gap(s) in English Language Arts & Mathematics.
Goal 3: To increase the capacity of all WCS teachers and leaders to enhance student learning through evidence-based professional learning.

School Goals and Focus Areas
Eastbrook Middle School administrators and teachers have studied our student performance data to determine the most important areas of improvement for our school. The school goals for 2025-2026 are:

Goal 1: Increase the percentage of students achieving at a Level 3 and 4 in ELA/Reading and Math by 3% in grades 6-8 on Georgia Milestones as measured from the Spring 25 data.
Goal 2: Increase student overall academic performance as measured on Georgia Milestones by 3% through the technology equipment and infrastructure needed to support the integration of curriculum and technology for FY26.
Goal 3: Increase the capacity of all Eastbrook families to support students’ learning and healthy development both at home and at school by providing quality opportunities for families and community to continuously collaborate.

6th Grade (REVISED May 6, 2025)

Teacher/School Responsibilities

As 6th grade teachers, we will work with students and their families to support student success in connecting reading comprehension and fluency with math, social studies, and science skills by:

Maintaining high expectations for student learning, teaching the standards, providing a high-quality curriculum, and focusing on literacy and reading skills
Providing a safe, supportive learning environment
Providing parents with resources to support instruction
Providing parents with school telephone numbers and emails
Keeping grades updated in Infinite Campus
Providing supplemental classes in Reading & Mathematics
Communicating frequently with parents in person, by phone, email, Remind, website and social media
Providing parents with written reports on student progress and updates in Infinite Campus and website
Providing parents with opportunities to participate in learning (Academic Nights)

Family Responsibilities at Home

As a parent/guardian of a 6th grade student, I will work with teachers and students to support student success in all academic areas by:

Helping with homework, ensuring assignments from class are completed, and encouraging our child to study on a regular basis.
Monitoring the amount of television/video games our children watch/play
Checking email, website, and Google Classroom in order to stay informed.
Monitoring our child’s grades and progress using Parent Portal in Infinite Campus, Google Classroom, and contacting our child’s teacher if concerns arise.
Encouraging our child to have a positive attitude toward education.
Participating in decisions relating to my child’s education
Serving to the extent possible on policy advisory groups such as the School Council or as a Volunteer
Monitoring my child’s attendance.
Motivating my child to do his/her best each and every day.
Checking the Georgia Standards of Excellence to know what my child should be learning (https://www.georgiastandards.org).

Student Responsibilities

Eastbrook Middle School students joined staff and parents to develop ideas about how they can succeed in school and reach their potential in math and reading. Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at home and school:

I will organize assignments and due dates, follow the student handbook, and use the tools and materials provided in Google Classroom and Google Calendar to support my learning.
I will share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards.

Specifically, I will:

Take responsibility for completing homework, be organized, turn work in on time, study, and read more at home.
Listen to my teacher, pay attention and participate in class by asking questions when I do not understand.
Have a positive attitude, keep good attendance, get plenty of rest on school nights and eat breakfast every day.
Follow the rules, behave, stay out of trouble, plan for the future and remain focused on my goals.
Do my best work on all assignments and check my grades regularly.
Have a balanced schedule.
Have a positive attitude toward my education.
Care more about school and others.

7th Grade (REVISED May 6, 2025)
